Stroynik Ampere was found in the ruins of a warzone of the First Galactic War and was part of the first generation of orphans admitted into the Orphan City, Soucier. After reaching adulthood and graduating from Soucier, he started looking for work that would benefit from his intelligence and mechanical skills. After bouncing from job to job, he eventually became an engineer for Adrecorp working on the Atlas Jumper, the central Jumpgrid on Elso. After an incident that led to him killing his Pioneer employer, however, he went on the run, knowing the penalty for killing a Pioneer is death.

Olisius was born into a family of extreme poverty, where he suffered all throughout his childhood as the runt of his family. Because of this, he constantly wished for an opportunity to rise above his station and prove himself to be more than just a runt. When he heard about the Pioneer project, he saw this as his chance. After taking the Genegrades, however, his personality became enhanced as well as his physicality, making him more aggressive than before. As a result, he was deemed unfit to lead a squad as a Pioneer. After some improvement, he was given management over the Atlas Jumper to prove himself. This, combined with a government project promising immortality, will hopefully prove his worth as a Pioneer to everyone.

Iago was dropped off at Soucier when he was a baby. His only memento of his parents is the pendant they left him at Soucier. He was told that he will know his parents have come back for him by the matching halves of the photos in the pendant. However, eventually, he reached 18 years old and had to leave Soucier and try to find them himself. He ended up getting involved as a smuggler, which provided many advantages to his goal. Lots of travel, lots of connections, but lots of criminal acts as well. He hopes that once he finds them, he will be able to look them in the eye after all he did to get there.
